The Dawlish Choral Society was formed in 1982 and acquired charitable status in 2004. We are a small friendly choir who enjoy singing and performing the great choral works.

Our repertoire includes short sacred anthems and larger choral works such as Faure’s Requiem and Mendelssohn’s Elijah – and just occasionally – Gilbert and Sullivan and Folk music, plus carols around Christmas time.

All are welcome to join, there is no audition, although an ability to read music is useful.

We put on 3-4 concerts per year, Autumn, Christmas, Spring, Summer. Fees are £40 per term.

Choir practice is on Monday evenings at the Manor House. Doors open at 7.15pm for a prompt start to singing at 7.30pm. We also have a raffle at half time.

We do sometimes hold fundraising concerts – one of them consisting of Gilbert & Sullivan operettas, which was very well attended. We also have now an annual cream tea in a beautiful garden, which has proved popular as a social event, and to which anyone can attend.

We hold concerts at St Gregory’s Church and the Manor House in Dawlish. This is quite a popular venue as it is walkable from the Barton car park. Anyone considering joining is more than welcome to attend a couple of rehearsals to see if is right for them.
